"Dance is a spiritual experience for me. Dancing helps me in acting as well. It is and added advantage for me. I enjoy playing the character of a dancer in the films. I am very passionate about dancing. I take time off to dance during my shooting schedules. There is a lot more to be learnt in dancing. Dancing is my first love. Dancing gives me great pleasure.

I started to dance at the age of five. My arangetram was held at Thiruvangad Temple in Thalassery. I learnt Bharatanatyam from Kalamandalam Saraswathy, (M. T. Vasudevan Nair's wife). Following are the excerpts of an exclusive chat with Vineeth at the Global Towers in Wellawatte:-

"Padmini Periyamma (My father's elder brother's wife) is a legend. She was an excellent classical dancer and actress. I used to admire her dancing. Padmasri Kamalhassan is an excellent classical dancer. I have watched his films, and enjoyed as a young upcoming dancer. There have been many young boys, who have watched his films and learnt dancing.

"Chandramugi" was a turning point in my career. This brought me new opportunities to act in Tamil films. I have got more offers. I have acted in 95 films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and English. Quantity does not matter to me, always quality matters to me a lot.

My latest film is "Rathrimazha" in Malayalam by Lenin Rajendran. I am playing a role of a dancer (Harikrishnan) who becomes physically challenging after an accident. However I retain my passion for dance He is confined to a wheel chair. And from the wheel chair he tries to create a unique dance-art production. I am a trained Bharathanatyam dancer. It is the first time that, I am doing a contemporary style of dance, a fusion of Kalari, Chhau, and others. But it's challenging. It's a new experience for me. It's another opportunity to show my talent.

It's a great opportunity to meet reputed artistes. I admire all the directors. All are great in different ways. All characters I portray, whether big or small are close to my heart. I treasure them all.

It gives me a great pleasure to grace an occasion, where great dancers of Sri Lanka will be performing on a stage. I will be honoured to perform on a stage in Sri Lanka next time. I am looking forward to it".
